The Bali Major 2023 Playoffs day one has come to an end. After a group stage filled with surprises, the first round of series at this stage felt like a return to normalcy.  

Results

  The day kicked off with Team Liquid vs PSG.LGD. The Chinese organization went into this match as heavy underdogs, yet fought hard in the first two games of the series. TL got the better of them with a 2-1 win, but the dream of TI qualification is still alive. PSG will be facing Team Spirit and, if they manage to win that series, will be the first Chinese team to qualify for this year's The International. In the second series of the Bali Major playoffs, BetBoom Team maintained the impressive form they've been having at the tournament. They took down Tundra Esports in a 2-0 sweep which ended up lasting as much as a 3-game series would. The second game was a 105 min grueling affair which, albeit still impressive, doesn't come close to the fiesta that happened earlier at Bali. It did feel better though, as it confirmed BetBoom Team's qualification to TI12.

Gaimin Gladiators got back to form by pushing beascoast to the lower-bracket in the third series of the Bali Major Playoffs. The 2023 kings of the Majors slipped in the first game, but took care of business with two quick ~30 min wins to close the series out 2-1.

  To finish this first day of the playoffs we had the match of the underdogs: Quest Esports vs Team Aster. Quest seemed on the brink on losing the third and final match, but TA2000's Medusa proved too much for Aster too handle. How strong is the plot-armor on these guys right now?

  With the first day concluded, this is what the bracket looks like:     The teams who came out victorious in this first round will have a day off as the lower-bracket unfolds. Key matches to highlight are:  

PSG.LGD vs Team Spirit

The first match of the day will determine PSG's fate. Can they take down Spirit and earn their TI qualification, or will their dreams be put on hold until the Regional Qualifiers come around?  

Team Aster vs 9pandas

Another last chance. Aster will be facing a very recently confirmed TI12 participant as the final obstacle between them and their The International 2023 slot.
