Bali Major's Group Stage Day 1 has ended with a few surprising results. Here's what happened.  

Group A Day 1 results

      Group A went mostly as expected on the first day of the Bali Major Group Stage. Team Liquid tied their series against Shopify Rebellion, an expected result between the two best series in the Group. Beastcoast managed to force a tie against both Tundra Esports and Shopify Rebellion, giving them a great start in what is a crucial tournament for their TI12 qualification. Team Aster had quite a good start to their Bali Major run and Execration had an unexpected 0-2 loss versus Invictus Gaming, one of the weakest teams in the Group.  

Group B Day 1 results

      Group B is the spicy of the two in Bali Major's Group Stage Day 1. Evil Geniuses are sitting at the bottom of the table with two losses. They got smacked by Azure Ray, the top 29th team in the DPC and earned another loss right after at the hands of nouns, the former 4 Zoomers roster. A tie versus BetBoom Team makes Azure Ray top the table, alongside another unexpected contender: Quest Esports. The 22nd team in the DPC Rankings swept Bleed Esports and managed to steal a 136 min game away from the reigning Major Champions Gaimin Gladiators (yes, you read the number right).  

Heading into Day 2

  Was this first day of the Bali Major Group Stage just a fluke for Group B, or will we have some unexpected qualifications for the next phase of the tournament?     Tomorrow's matches show some promise. Aster will have their biggest test yet with a match against Liquid and will have to prove if they have what it takes to stay well positioned in the Bali Major. Evil Geniuses have some tough games ahead of them after a 0-2 start which might put them in a rough situation early on in this Group Stage. And, of course, we'll end with the most unexpected hype match of the day: Azure Ray vs Quest Esports. Which of the two Bali Major surprises will reign supreme?
