Bali Major Group Stage Day 2- The weirdness continues

Mush 2023-06-30 04:55:20

Bali Major Group Stage Day 2 ended a few hours ago. It wasn't as filled with weirdness as the first day of the tournament, but it wasn't that far behind (no 136 minutes game here).

Bali Major Group Stage Day 2 standings

Despite the surprising results that we've seen so far, the first place teams in each group are the ones we expected: Team Liquid in A, Gaimin Gladiators in B. What is quite surprising is the bottom of both tables. Evil Geniuses are still heavily struggling at the Bali Major Group Stage. After their rough first day, day 2 wasn't that much better with a versus PSG.LGD. An overall score of 1-7 leaves a seriously steep climb ahead for them to escape elimination. Remember, Bali Major Group Stage is a single round-robin and EG have already faced their theoretically weakest opponents. Will they be able to bounce back?   Bali Major Group Stage Day 2   Execration are in a similarly tough position, but they have one less series played and one of their defeats was at the hand of Team Liquid, so that was to be expected. Shopify Rebellion are the biggest surprise of Group A. They're not bottom of the table as EG are, but relative to their expectations, they're not far from it. After an exciting tie versus Team Liquid to kick-off their Bali Major run, the team has gone on to get 0-2 by Tundra and even dropped a game to Blacklist Rivalry, the weakest team in their group. Their schedule isn't too tough moving forward, but a couple more missteps and we might see SR exit the tournament shockingly early. Our most exciting match of the day, the battle of the over-performers in Quest Esports vs Azure Ray was, unfortunately, a stomp. The quick 2-0 came with some good news though: Quest are still absolutely smurfing! The 22nd ranked team in the DPC is second place of Group B, a win behind GG. They have one of the toughest schedules ahead, so they still have a lot of prove. Will the miraculous game they took off of the Gladiators be enough to ensure their qualification to the next phase of the Bali Major?

Day 3 preview

Bali Major Group Stage Day 2 was another banger, so expect Day 3 to be no different. We didn't have a repeat 130+ min game, but we did have an incredibly close backdoor attempt by Team Aster against Team Liquid. Shopify Rebellion and Evil Geniuses will be the teams to watch tomorrow.   Bali Major   Their matches will be crucial in their survival in this tournament. Will they be able to pull through?
