After two days of intense battle, iG finally obtained the last ticket from LPL to Worlds. After the match, iG’s Zz1tai and Rookie accepted our interview.

Q: First, Zz1tai please talk about how you feel now that you made Worlds.

Zz1tai: I feel very emotional that I finally get to return to the Worlds stage after S2.

Q: Certain top lane champions such as Maokai and Gnar have been slowly weeded out in the recent patch. What are the trending top laners at the moment? What are their weaknesses compared to the old top laners?

Zz1tai: The two trending top laners at the moment are Fiora and Gangplank. Compared to the old top laners, Fiora and GP have much stronger offensive capabilities. Old top laners such as Maokai and Gnar basically cannot fight against the new top laners at all.

Q: As an iG veteran, what do you want to say to your former teammates?

Zz1tai: We will fulfill the dreams that you guys left behind.

Q: In the beginning, shoutcasters labelled iG as a “4-1 split push” team. But recently the champions you used in game all can carry, and you performed very well in game. How were you able to switch between the two roles during the match?

Zz1tai: Honestly, I thought about “4-1 split push” when I was selecting champions, but since every game game became either too disadvantageous or too advantageous, there were no need to use the split push strategy.

Q: Rookie, what song do you want to sing to express your feelings now that you made Worlds for the first time?

Rookie: Difficult question to answer. I think I should sing the MSI theme song “Hero” again.

Q: Rookie, now that your old team KT successfully made Worlds, how will you play against them if you meet them again?

Rookie: KT made Worlds right after we left…although I said that I want KT eliminated in the qualifiers, deep down I want to play against them on the Worlds stage. Congratulations to KT!

Q: Zz1tai, there is the rumour on the internet that Chris joined iG. We also saw Chris at the live venue. Did Chris really join iG? Did he help the team?

Zz1tai: He did help us, but he did not join the team. He helped us for his personal reasons, and completing his goal of “bringing 4 teams to Worlds 3 years in a row” at the same time. I am not sure whether he will stay after we made it to Worlds. That you have to ask the team.

Q: Today your boss came out too. Did this give you any pressure? Did your boss say anything to you?

Zz1tai: We didn’t meet up with the boss before the match. He came to find us after the match. Honestly, there was already a lot of pressure just to play the match. He didn’t say much. All he did was congratulate us.

Q: Didn’t talk about that question?

Zz1tai: Nope.

Q: You know what question I was referring to?
