LoL Super Team V2.0 Incoming?

If we learnt anything from the last “Super Team”, the bulk of which went on to become the current Alliance roster, it’s that nothing is set in stone during an off-season. However, a variety of reliable sources have informed us that a new super team will be put together and it is perhaps even more surprising than the first time.

The team has been spotted playing ranked fives and is currently being dismissed by the players involved as “a bit of fun”, however the team has serious intentions of competing together long term in the Challenger League. That roster, currently under the name Rest In Pepperonis, features the following five players: Alex ich, k0u, Nukeduck, Mithy and the newly added Forgiven.

The first stumbling block of disbelief is the inclusion of Alex Ich on a permanent basis. The Gambit Gaming mid-laner is unquestionably one of the game’s big stars and it seems borderline crazy that he would want to walk away from his team. However, we had it confirmed by our sources that he wants a fresh start and would be reinventing himself as a top laner.

“He almost left for the first super team but changed his mind at the last minute” we were told “this time, he wants to leave. Not only does he question the attitude of some of his team mates, he really wants to spend more time with his wife and kid. A Challenger team allows him to do that and still earn a big salary.”

For a player of his stature, he would be making the biggest sacrifice given that this split has a place at the World Finals up for grabs. Competing in the Coke Zero Challenger league seems a needlessly big sacrifice to make. However, we were also told that the team already has a prospective home and designs on an LCS slot. This in itself seems to bring into question whether or not they will compete in the Challenger league, although apparently they are willing to if they don't acquire an LCS slot.

“This team will almost 100% go on to become the new NiP team” another one of our sources said. “Nuke and Mithy are already there and after losing out on the promotions they were told to rebuild the team. There’s big salaries but the most important thing is that they will be looking to buy an LCS slot from another team. They don’t want to be out of LCS.”

It was implied that the team’s future could well be dependent on finding someone who was willing to part with their slot for the NiP brand and the team could fall apart if one wasn’t forthcoming. For the most part though this team seems to be currently destined for NiP unless there are some major changes. Don’t rule that out of course. As we saw with the original “super-team” these things can change fast in the off-season clamour for better deals.

If they do secure an LCS slot then Tri Tin "k0u" Lam will not be of the requisite age. This is why they have Johan "Hulberto" Johansson on the roster. The NiP man is most likely to go on and become the full time player for the team, while k0u uses his time with the team to increase his stock and gain some vital experience.

Other players have been talking about the team and it is no secret that they at least intend to make a go of it. Ex-Millennium jungler Alvar "Araneae" Martin Alenar tweeted “EU SUPER TEAM v2 incoming?” earlier today, which was promptly retweeted by the team’s current jungler Tri Tin "k0u" Lam and favourited by newest recruit Konstantinos "FORG1VEN" Tzortziou.

So, a genuine team being put together or one of the most elaborate trolls ever put together in League of Legends history? You decide. We are currently awaiting an official response from the players involved and NiP and will keep you updated as soon as we have anything.

Good Article. Kind of unimpressed with NiP trying to buy their way back into LCS after yet another failing. Especially considering the shambles of the last time they tried to take Lemondogs spot.

Trying to be the Man City of gaming?

There is no truth in the rumors that @NiPGaming has considered buying an LCS spot. An announcement on our future will happen soon!
