Mush 2023-06-27 05:26:21

The Bali Major 2023 is quickly approaching. The third Major of the year in Dota 2 begins in just a couple a days in the paradisiacal landscape of Bali, Indonesia. Here's everything you need to know about the tournament.

Schedule

The Bali Major begins June 29th (Friday) and lasts 11 days, ending on July 09th (Sunday). Indonesian time-zone is not very Western friendly, so you'll have to make a few sacrifices to follow the tournament live from the Western Hemisphere. Group Stage matches start at 3AM WEST/10PM EST and go deep into the night. Detailed schedule here. Group Stage will end on July 3rd, and the Playoffs will begin after two days break, on July 5th. Arena matches will be played at Ayana Estate (a 5 Star Resort) between the 7th and 9th of July.

Teams at the Bali Major

18 teams qualified for the Bali Major. Here they are:   Bali Major   Five of these teams have already qualified for The International 2023: Team Liquid, Gaimin Gladiators, Evil Geniuses, Shopify Rebellion and Tundra Esports. The remaining squads have their qualification on the line and would highly value the points awarded from reaching top 8 at this tournament.

Bali Major Prize Pool and DPC Points

There are $500,000U USD and 3,500 Dota Pro Circuit points on the line. This is how they're distributed:   Bali Major   9Pandas, Team Spirit and PSG.LGD are less than 300 points away from the necessary 1160 DPC threshold for TI12, so a top 8 finish for any of these contestants would ensure qualification. Teams like beastcoast and BetBoom can also qualify through the Bali Major, but they'll need a 5th-6th placement at a minimum.

Format

The Bali Major format is the one that's been used for the two previous Majors of the year.
  • The tournament is divided into two phases: Group Stage and Playoffs.
  • The Eighteen teams are split into two groups of nine.
  • Matches are Bo2 in a single round-robin, with six teams from each group qualifying to playoffs. Bottom three teams from each group are eliminated.
  • Top four teams from each group automatically advance to the upper-bracket of the playoffs, 5th and 6th place teams will go to the lower-bracket.
  • Playoffs are a double-elimination bracket with BO3s for every match except the Grand Finals, which is BO5.

(Berlin Major Playoffs as an example)

As said previously, Arena Matches will only take place between the 7th and 9th of June, from Upper Bracket Semifinals forward.
